Persimmons

Not an update.
But a belated entry for persimmons and some photos we took last November (2013)

Persimmons are sweet from my childhood memories. My great-grandaunt used to buy me some sweet, tiny and soft persimmons (hachiya persimmons) when I was young. My grandaunt also once brought home lots of delicious crisp non-astringent persimmons (fuyu persimmons) harvested from her garden in the US. And talking about persimmons, I guess many would also be reminded of some episodes in Doraemon comic books... like these
:D
The episode when Nobita visited his grandma in the past
The episode about Persimmon tree & Nobita's father

 or
& The canned season ^^

To me, persimmons are truly the fruit of fall, coming into season in fall, wearing the brilliant color of fall.
A fleshy persimmon closely attached to the bony twig.
Persimmon leaves, after changing color, all fall down to leave just orange persimmons on the gnarled branches.

It was beautiful to see tons of persimmons hanging down in the air. It was like a wonderful rain of fruit and fall color!

On the leafless tree, fruits were hanging and dangling like Christmas ornaments ...

- Nov 29: While we were taking pictures of the persimmons, an old and frail lady, owner of the house, walked out and asked, "Do you want some persimmons?".  She and her husband were old and they would not pick the fruit, so she invited us to pick and bring home some persimmons if we loved to... Needless to say, I was overjoyed to hear that !

We were invited to pick these !! ^.^

These persimmons are so big!

We brought home these fleshy persimmons!!

PS: these are astringent persimmons. Remember to wait until they are fully, fully ripe before eating ;P

There are more to write, but I guess, some photos are enough...

Just let thoughts and memories

sleep quietly in this lovely fruit of autumn...
