Fall is well-known as the poetic season of chilly winds, brittle leaves, splendid colors and also many fragrant harvests (these might be some last beautiful harvests of the year). As a long-time orchard lover, never do I want to miss such a thing as a visit to the farm! ...
(Continued from Part 1)
Actually, we were looking for some u-pick fuyu persimmons – the fruit with the beautiful color of fall. But it was not easy to find a persimmon farm nearby, so we decided to visit an apple orchard first. Though apples are said to be best in September, now, in mid-October, they are still in season.
After a long, winding drive, we reached the apple orchard at around 1 pm. The sun was shining so bright, but it could not prevent me from darting around the orchard with great joy. As I have previously mentioned, I am an orchard lover, and a dream trip to vineyards and fruitful orchards has long been in my mind. So needless to say, I was very eager and excited :)
Apple trees here were short. Their rosy fruits hung low in reach of even a little child and were of medium size, not as big as those in supermarkets. They were just large enough to stand neatly and docilely on a child's palm. This was an organic garden without chemical fertilizers or pesticides use, so I even noticed some slimy snails sleeping alive on some ripe apples, hic.

As we came late, people had soon harvested their best apples. Left on most trees were only green apples or those red but with dark spots and blemishes. But even if we could not find any beautiful apples to pick and bring home, it was still OK as we already had our good time there in the orchard. We had a lovely walk along lines and lines of green apple trees, taking photos, inhaling the fresh cool air. Mild apple scent sometimes wafted in the wind... A lot of fallen apples were sleeping serenely on soft grass, innocently painting such a peaceful picture of the apple orchard.
There was also a resting table and an avocado tree nearby.
We did not expect to go home with some red apples, but to my delight, as we came back to the entrance, I found some beautiful clusters of ripe apples swaying so joyfully in the breeze. Dressed in the bewitching crimson red color, these ripe apples looked so beautiful and somehow mysterious. And for the first time, I could feel the real sense of plucking an apple straight from the fresh branch...
As for the above photos, it was around 2 pm then with dazzling sunshine & my husband is not a professional photographer at all, so some of the photos were burnt too bright. However, I still love all of these shots because they captured many big smiles and many of our lovely moments in the apple orchard. There were some green and red apples sunbathing lazily on the trees; there were sometimes sounds of fallen apples rolling mischievously down the green grass… The soft apple scent wafted in the wind that day has also drifted into my sweet memories - memories of a day in fall when we first time visited an apple orchard…
We have been keeping these beautiful apples for 4 days and still don't want to eat them at all :P |
